Tasting notes
A dark, voluptuous beauty, the 2012 Proprietary Blend is superb. Sweet, floral and highly expressive, the 2012 impresses for its aromatic lift, precision and class. This is an unusually precise wine for the vintage, with tons of energy and dazzling purity. Still tightly wound, the 2012 needs a few years in bottle to truly blossom. The Proprietary Red is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Cabernet Franc, with the Franc quite prominent today.

The 2012 Proprietary Red (which I did not taste last year) is stunning stuff. Production is under 100 cases, and the blend is 40% Cabernet Franc and 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, another brilliant example of just what Cabernet Franc is doing so dramatically to blends. Complex aromatics of roasted coffee, forest floor, spring flowers and red and black fruits are followed by a spicy, meaty rich and very elegant yet dense wine that should drink beautifully for another 12-15 years.
