Score 94/100 · Drink 2018-2025, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Apr 2018

The 2015 Pinot Noir Hyde Vineyard is powerful, dense and savory, as wines from this site tend to be. Leather, smoke, earthiness and spice notes wrap around a core of intense blue/purplish fruit. This is one of the more savory and least flamboyant of the 2015 Pinots.

The 2015 Pinot Noir Hyde Vineyard is beautiful. Coming from a great site in Carneros and aged 11 months in 63% new French oak, it offers a lot of black cherry, spice, forest floor, and hints of oak in a medium-bodied, balanced, elegant style. With plenty of texture, nicely integrated acidity, and a great finish, drink this terrific Pinot Noir anytime over the coming decade or more.

The 2015 Pinot Noir Hyde Vineyard is super-distinctive. Grilled herbs, licorice and earthy notes provide a bass register of darkness and depth to support the expressive dark fruit. This is one of the most distinctive Pinots in the Paul Hobbs range. The Hyde is deep, powerful and structured to the core.

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Pinot Noir Hyde Vineyard has crushed cherries and red currants on the nose with underlying violets, charcoal and black soil notes. Medium-bodied and firmly structured, with chewy tannins and lively acid, it offers well-defined red berry and earth flavors in the mouth and great length.
