Score 92/100 · Drink 2019-2037, David Schildknecht, Vinous, Mar 2019
A penetrating nose delivers lemongrass, hyssop, pineapple and mandarin. The buoyant palate preserves just enough tang of pineapple core and bright limey juiciness to keep high residual sugar from taking things in a syrupy direction, and the same can thankfully be said of the wine’s delightfully buoyant, lusciously lingering, gently tingling finish. That finish certainly conveys a candied citrus impression, but the longer the wine takes on air, the more efficacious its citric juiciness and citrus oil piquancy become. Further compensation for – or diminution in – the wine’s sense of sweetness will come with time in bottle, but not in any hurry.
