Tasting notes
The terrifically fruity, quite flattering 1996 Barbaresco Vigneto Gallina is full-bodied, with outstanding concentration, plenty of earthy, plum/cherry, smoky, spice scents, low acidity, and moderate tannin in the layered finish. It should drink well for a dozen or more years. A Marc de Grazia Selection, various American importers, including Michael Skurnik, Syosset, NY; tel. (516) 677-9300, Vin Divino, Chicago, IL; tel. Very good deep red. More plum and redcurrant fruitiness to stand up to the oak aroma; slightly minty. Sweet, lush and lovely, with very good acidity and strong fruit. Possesses more density to support the ripe, nicely integrated tannins. Minty and quite long. For the cellar.
