Tasting notes
(from fruit purchased from David Abreu's Madrona Ranch vineyard in St. Helena): Healthy dark red. Vibrant fruit-driven aromas of boysenberry, blackberry, licorice and flowers. A step up in texture and pliancy, offering seamless, sweet, layered dark berry flavors complemented by harmonious oak. Lush, suave and classy, not to mention wonderfully scented and long on the aftertaste. This is delicious 2016 but should last well.

This is all sold already to those on their mailing list but the wine won’t be shipped until the autumn. Later release than most California labels. Newer Cabernet Franc vines in this . Dense and rich and fuller on the nose than the 2003. Very smooth and full and round – polished. Tannins certainly there but very gentle-tasting now. Very pretty on the palate though definitely more tannin. (JR)
