Tasting notes
The 2007 The Boxer Shiraz is a saturated purple color with an expressive nose of balsam wood, violets, scorched earth, and blueberry compote. Dense and rich on the palate, it has layers of succulent fruit, lots of spice, and a lengthy finish. It is surprisingly elegant for its size. It, too, can be enjoyed through 2017. Mollydooker is the label of the renowned winemaking team of Sparky and Sarah Marquis. This is their third vintage, one seriously affected by the drought conditions in Barossa and McLaren Vale. Their overall production was down by 50% in 2007. Mollydooker is divided into four tiers beginning with the Lefty Series, line-priced at $25. Next up the ladder is the Party Series priced at $55, followed by two wines comprising the Love Series priced at $80. At the top of the pyramid is one wine, The Velvet Glove, priced at $185.
