Tasting notes
The 2019 El Alma de Jonata, the estate's Cabernet Franc-based red, is a wine of reserve and potential. At this stage, the Alma comes across as a bit lithe. I imagine it will fill out nicely with a bit of time. Dark fruit, spice, leather, tobacco and menthol start to emerge with a bit of aeration, but the 2019 is very reticent today. Readers should plan on cellaring it for at least a handful of years.

Blackcurrants, mulberries, green tobacco, and spring flowers notes all emerge from the 2019 El Alma De Jonata, a blend of 61% Cabernet Franc, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, and 7% Petit Verdot. Offering classic Cabernet Franc floral and herbal characteristics, it's medium to full-bodied and has a beautiful sense of elegance and purity, plenty of fine tannins, and a great finish. It shows the fresh, focused, lively style of the vintage nicely and will benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age yet cruise for 10-15 years in cold cellars.
