Tasting notes
Classified as GSTK (equivalent to grand cru) in the private association known as the Steirische Terroir- and Klassikweingüter. RS 1.1 g/l, TA 5.6 g/l. Very cold sample so quite hard to taste. Creamy, sweetly oaky. Very fresh and quite long but only moderate intensity on the mid palate. Creamy aftertaste. (JH)

The barrel-fermented 2017 Ried Zieregg Morillon is intense and bright on the lemony-scented and salty limestone nose. Full-bodied, intense, lush and concentrated, with fine tannins and more oaky flavors than its exciting sister from the Grassnitzberg, this is a full and ample Zieregg Chardonnay with lots of mineral tension and grip on the finish. Still very young but highly promising. Tasted in May 2019.
What a beautiful white here, showing fine cloves, lemon pith, persimmon, petrichor and chalk. Textured with some serious weight. Fine and agile, this is a delicious wine to drink now.
