2012 Brothers Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon The Brothers is an addition to the range that points to the direction Snowden is going towards in terms of bottling a range of single-vineyard wines. There is only one barrel of the Brothers. While tiny productions are quite common in Burgundy, the reality is that making wine in such small quantities is technically very challenging. Maybe that is why the 2012 comes across as a bit oxidized despite its obvious richness and intensity.

I’ll keep my notes short, but there’s only one barrel of the 2012 The Brothers, which is the first wine made from their replanted vineyard on the Vaca Mountains. It’s pretty dark ruby/purple, with sweet mulberry, red and black currants and a nice judicious use of oak. I’m not so sure it justifies its separate treatment, but it certainly an outstanding wine and should drink nicely for another 10-12 years.
