Pale red. Racy and lively with strong chestnut and fennel notes. A pure pleasure. (JR)
Fuligni's 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is a delightful wine that excels both in terms of its generosity and its approachability. It's easy to drink the whole bottle, glass after glass. The warmer vintage has shaped soft and rich fruit flavors that are enduring and enticing. Spice, leather and tangy tobacco fill in the rear adding dimension and aromatic substance. The mouthfeel shows great textural richness and a sudden spot of bright acidity. This is an honest, upfront and utterly enjoyable Brunello.
The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is dark, pliant and super-expressive. Dark cherry, plum, blood orange and exotic spices all lift from the glass. Aromatically intriguing and generous, the 2011 will be ready to give all it's got pretty early. Although the 2011 is not especially complex, it is sensual, racing and inviting, all qualities that are accentuated by silky tannins that give the wine its succulent, open-knit personality. The 2011 spent two and half years in a combination of tonneau and cask.
