Tasting notes
Rock star stuff, the 2017 Petite Sirah The Other boasts a deep purple hue as well as fab notes of blueberries, wild strawberries, violets, and sappy flowers. Medium to full-bodied, rich, and textured, this isn’t an over-the-top, massive wine, but it has elegance, purity, acidity, and a great finish. It’s a beautiful wine that’s going to evolve for at least a decade, although there’s no harm opening bottles today.

The 2017 Petite Sirah The Other is another fabulous wine in this range. Inky dark fruit, crème de cassis, chocolate, licorice and spice are all pushed forward. The Outpost Petite is not a shy wine, but it has so much to offer in a racy, flamboyant style that is hugely appealing.
Already in bottle, the 2017 Petite Sirah The Other spent 18 months in French oak, 25% new. Very deep, very inky purple-black in color, it gives up pronounced notes of crushed black cherries, warm plums and lilacs with hints of tar and dried bay leaves. Firm, chewy and full-on full-bodied, it has just enough freshness with loads of uplifting herbal sparks, finishing long and with a spring in its step. 212 cases were made.
