Vanilla-sweet cherries and blueberries brightened by a note of cranberries. A little dusty. Sweet fruit carries through on the palate though it is rather light in the middle making the tannins a little dry on the finish. Perhaps it will fill out a bit. (JH)

(from a cooler spot featuring chalky white soil; picked five days after the Caillerets) Pungent aromas of black cherry, licorice and mint. Juicy and tightly wound, showing a less sophisticated texture than the Caillerets. Medicinal dark cherry is complicated by a creamy suggestion of dark chocolate. Finishes with slightly tough tannins that will need more elevage, not to mention time in bottle. This is evolving slowly.
