Tasting notes
Diam closure. Ochre colour. Fabulous aroma that is nutty and madeira-like with a touch of caramel. In the mouth, this is rich, gloriously intense, sweet, bitter orange, caramelised apricot. And perfectly balanced even though everything is so concentrated. This is outstanding in intensity, richness and flavour: figs, raisins, dried apricots. Delicious and VGV . (JH)

Aged in wood for 20 years. Transparent orange tawny with a yellow rim. Strong rancio nose gives this wine real punch and excitement. Dried fruits and liquid Christmas pudding. Really fresh and clean on the finish. Rather a beautiful vin doux naturel with real oak-aged notes. Walnut notes. Very sweet – serve with cheese? (JR)
The tea-colored 1998 Rivesaltes Ambre boasts complex aromas of maple syrup, dried figs and black walnuts. It's sweet but dangerously drinkable, with only 18% alcohol and bright acidity that cleanses and refreshes the palate.
