Deep ruby. Utterly primary aromas of crushed blackberry and kirsch Then almost surprisingly sweet and broad, with a nutty element complicating its powerful dark fruit and floral flavors. A huge, thick wine that finishes with big but thoroughly ripe tannins and terrific lingering sweetness.

The enormously-endowed, inky/purple-colored 2005 Petite Sirah reveals notes of incense, spring flowers, blueberries, blackberries, and a subtle touch of pepper. This massive red is surprisingly civilized and silky-textured. Although accessible, it should easily last for 15-20 years. Previously recommended: 2004 Claret (95), 2004 Petite Sirah (95). Tel.
