Tasting notes
The 2005 Vouvray Sec Clos du Bourg smells distinctly saline, chalky, and suggestive of meat stock richness, as well as of pit and citrus fruits. With real grip on the palate, pungent citrus zest, chalk dust, and wet stone inflections, and firmly-framed grapefruit, pear and quince in the finish, this is both among the brightest and most adamant Chenin Blancs of its vintage. Its concentration, and length as well as the track record set by Huet dry Vouvray suggest that it should be approached again in a couple of years and can then safely be held for another decade.
