Score 94/100 · Drink 2025-2035, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Aug 2025

2007 was a warm, early vintage, Andy Peay recalls. Both powerful and elegant, the 2007 Estate Syrah La Bruma is drinking beautifully. It has a medium-ruby color and intoxicating aromas of briar fruit, olives, charcuterie, pepper, leather and graphite. The full-bodied palate is bursting with surprisingly youthful, concentrated dark fruit flavors. It’s structured by powdery tannins and soft acidity and has a very long, savory finish. It will continue to gain complexity in bottle over the next decade.

Very classy and elegant, the 2007 Peay Vineyards Syrah La Bruma sports captivating aromatics of raw beef, freshly cracked peppercorns, cedar, violets and underbrush, all wrapped around a vibrant core of beautiful, cool climate, Syrah fruit. Medium bodied, pure and focused on the palate, this has a brilliantly textured mid-palate, racy acidity, and a clean, long finish. Simply a superb example of what Syrah can do in the right place; this should easily drink well for 10 to 12 years.

Bright purple. Vibrant raspberry, cherry, potpourri and incense on the sharply focused, highly expressive nose. Dense, juicy and sweet, with graceful strawberry and raspberry flavors and a supple, seamless texture. Picks up spiciness and floral character, as well as a hint of smoke, with a few minutes of aeration. Finishes very long, with gentle tannins and a strong note of candied flowers. I marginally prefer this wine's elegance to the power of the Les Titans today.
