Score 91+/100 · Drink 2022-2029, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2016

Bright medium red. Dark fruits, peppery herbs, licorice and subtle soil tones on the nose. Dense, fine-grained and highly concentrated, showing excellent sappy lift to its flavors of black cherry, cranberry and leather. Nicely rising, vibrant finish. There's plenty of medicinal reserve and underlying power here to support graceful development in bottle.

Bright medium red. Ripe, complex nose melds cherry, raspberry, underbrush, tobacco and leather. Rich, sweet and smooth but a bit youthfully clenched today. Denser but a bit less floral than the Perrières, showing a slight toughness to its sappy tannins. This saline, rather masculine wine from old vines planted on argilo-calcaire soil on what Bertrand Chevillon described as the "semi-côteau" needs more élevage .

The 2013 Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru les Pruliers is slightly deeper in color than Chevillon’s other 2013s. The bouquet is one of his most sophisticated, with mineral-infused red and black fruit intermingling, almost crystalline in purity. The palate is harmonious straight from the off, replete with filigree tannins, well-judged acidity and a tense, rocky, structured finish that lingers long in the mouth. This will deserve several years aging - one of Bertrand and Denis's best contributions to the vintage.
