The 2021 Syrah The Tribe Vineyard wafts from the glass with a cascade of violets, rose petals, mentholated herbs and crushed stone, complicating elderberry and black raspberry notes. It's round and soft textured with a spicy persona, casting lavender-laced red and black fruits across a stream of cool-toned acidity. A liquid floral concentration, saturation of fine tannins, hints of smoked meat and a flourish of blue flowers linger on. The Tribe Vineyard increases complexity with each moment it spends in the glass. Have patience with this radiant beauty.

Moving to the Syrahs, the 2021 Syrah The Tribe Vineyard is semi-opaque and has a darker, meaty style in its black raspberry and currant-driven fruits as well as ground pepper, iron, spring flowers, and incredible sense of minerality. Richly textured, medium to full-bodied, and incredibly pure, it has building tannins and needs 2-4 years of bottle age.

Completely opaque with a deep magenta rim, the 2021 Syrah The Tribe Vineyard offers blackberry skin, turned earth and mushroomy notes accompanied by roasted plum and charred cherries on the generous nose that is starting to separate. Flavors of plum compote become smudged on the palate, revealing a generosity that seems to have been pulled a touch too far. The finish continues with more of the non-fruit profile, featuring beef broth and blood notes. Bottles like this are a one-shot, one-kill and likely won't be better the second day open. A total of 6,672 bottles were produced.

Gloriously funky and earthy in aroma, this smoky, savory wine is firm in tannins that wrap around blackberry, beef tartar, floral and plummy components. Not at all heavy, it’s medium-bodied, maintaining a nervy balance that’s appetizing. From biodynamically grown grapes. Best from 2028.
