The 1994 Villa Bucci Riserva reveals spicy wood in its noteworthy rich, mineral-like flavors. Medium-bodied, more expansive, and softer on the palate than the 1995 Castelli di Jesi, it provides plenty of punch, power, and muscle. The dry, earthy, spicy finish is moderately long. It should not be sipped as an aperitif, but rather, it merits being served with food. I have had occasion to taste numerous vintages of Bucci's Verdicchio, and it generally possesses more character than most Italian dry whites. Bucci's offerings tend to be more earthy, mineral-driven wines, with distinctive personalities as well as above average power and depth. Importer: Empson, USA, Alexandria, VA; tel. (703) 684-0900
