Tasting notes
The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Aux Damodes, which lies adjacent to Les Damodes in Nuits Saint-Georges across the "border," is matured in 70% new oak. At present the aromatics are dominated by the new wood component that masks some of the potential terroir expression. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins, quite dense and lightly spiced, and sweet and candied toward the finish. There is a lot of flavor here, but I am just seeking a little more personality.

Cask sample. Mid crimson. Sweeter smelling than the NSG Vieilles Vignes and with a hint of caramel. Then unexpectedly tart on the palate, raspberry and cranberry flavours. Really high acid on the finish. Must be drunk with food and/or needs time. (JH)
