Tasting notes
Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2016 Trianon offers up notes of Morello cherries, Black Forest cake, blueberry pie and spice box with wafts of potpourri and dusty soil. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers mouth-filling, perfumed black berry flavors with a plush texture and spicy finish.

Bright blackberry and wet-earth aromas with hints of mushrooms and dried flowers. Medium to full body and firm tannins that are soft and polished. Lovely finish. Try from 2021.
The 2016 Trianon has come together nicely. I would prefer to drink the 2016 on the young side, while the sweet red cherry, plum, tobacco and licorice flavors remain vibrant. This supple, easygoing Saint-Émilion has much to recommend it, including an inviting personality that is hard to resist. Hubert de Boüard consults.
Pretty exaggerated in terms of concentration and tannic grip but there is lots of ripe fruit here so it may all come right. I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt. (JR)
