The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet Village has an attractive bouquet of toffee apple, orange blossom and honeysuckle; it’s cohesive and nicely focused, if not as intense as many of the Saint-Aubins from Joseph Colin. The palate is well balanced and offers an irresistible rondeur in the mouth. A dash of white pepper percolates through the citrus fruit, gaining weight toward the limey finish, which leaves behind an understated yet deceptively persistent aftertaste. Very fine.
The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet Village is very good indeed, offering up aromas of crisp peach, Anjou pear, toasted nuts, spices and honeycomb. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, layered and nicely concentrated, with mouthwatering acids and a long, well-defined finish.

Joseph Colin has fast become one of the Côte de Beaune’s most fashionable names. His first commercial vintage was only 2017, when he officially stepped away from the family business, Domaine Marc Colin.
