Aged in French oak (25% new). Tasted blind. Developed, bruised fruit on the nose. Chewy and substantial palate with a finish that seems unfresh when tasted among its Australian peers. Nonetheless there is concentration and quality here. (RH)

The 2021 Meursault Les Charmes 1er Cru has a burly nose with upfront honeyed fruit, which feels a little botrytised to me. The palate is ripe and slightly candied, maybe a little saccharine in style, with orange zest and peachy notes, though just missing some mineralité on the finish. Thankfully, it does manifest after 10 minutes in the glass. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
