Offering a kiss of reduction on the nose, the 2021 Ramnasgras Cinsault is fresh and bright as it offers a succulent, red-fruited and juicy core before aromas of soft red flowers sway from the glass. Medium-bodied, the wine lands on the palate showing its bright and focused flavors of cherry skin, pomegranate and wild strawberry before displaying a balanced structure with succulent tannins. The wine ends with a lively, spicy and potpourri-laced finish. Bravo!

Richer, sweeter-smelling and even more perfumed than the Ringmuur. But that fruit sweetness is balanced by a wild, fresh herbal note. Juicy, fresh and yet serious thanks to the fine grip and the long finish. More pleasure and better value than the Ringmuur. (JH)

The 2021 Cinsault Ramnasgras is whole bunch fermented is old vats with daily pumpovers. It has a lifted nose, perhaps not quite as refined as some of Badenhorst's other cuvées. The palate is better with red cherry and raspberry, quite saline and peppery on the finish. I would like to see this with another 12 months in bottle.
