Quite lean and hard. Not as charming as the Tête du Clos. Relatively tough. (JR)

The super-ripe pear and apple-scented 2000 Chassagne-Montrachet La Romanee has excellent depth to its vinous, medium to full-bodied character. It is rich, layered, and coats the palate with copious quantities of white fruits and spices. Drink it over the next 9 years. Importer: Michel-Schlumberger Imports, Healdsburg, CA; tel. Baked pear, licorice and spicy oak on the slightly hot nose. Cool, rather aggressive licorice and mint flavors. Lacks generosity of flavor and texture; I don't find this concentrated enough. A bit dry-edged on the back end.
