Tasting notes
Cask sample, for release in 2023. Deep purplish crimson. Intense, sweet start and altogether not very burgundian! Sour finish. A bit forced – or perhaps just a bit too ripe? Hamster-cage hint again. (JR)

The 2020 Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Fournaux wafts from the glass with aromas of dark berries, baking chocolate, exotic spices and rose petals. Medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with tangy acid and powdery tannins that assert themselves on the long, perfumed finish, it shows considerable promise.
The 2020 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Fournaux 1er Cru is well-defined on the nose but quite compact and introverted at first, blackcurrant mixed with redcurrant and a hint of balsamic. The palate is crisp and grainy in texture, again, quite "crunchy" in texture with a liberal sprinkling of white pepper and sage towards the finish. Very fine.
