Bright, full ruby. Expressive, fruit-driven nose offers black cherry and a light pruney aspect. Then fat, broad and quite sweet on the palate; distinctly more open than the Niepoort and less minerally. Rather graceful wine, with just enough acidity to maintain its balance. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins. Drink this over the next 15 years or so while waiting for the Niepoort.

Purplish crimson. Light, sprightly, lively nose. Some green, leafy notes. Even a little hint of fishiness! Grainy texture. Good try but very jagged and awkward wit the alcohol worryingly prominent. Not that much sweetness or tannin. (JR)
