Tasting notes
This represents the lightest of three Auslese selections from the Apotheke, featuring progressively higher must weights. To some extent, each reflects separate pickings, but there was additional sorting in the cellar, on the basis of botrytization and desiccation. In the present instance, reported Grans, there were about 50% botrytis-concentrated berries. Apple jelly, candied grapefruit peel and papaya make for a colorful aromatic combination, and they collaborate admirably on a flatteringly creamy, glossy, but buoyant palate, with backing from ample but far from excessive sweetness, leading to a finish remarkably transparent to stony underpinnings and whose primary juiciness encourages taking the next sip.

Luscious tropical fruit, such as mangoes, papaya and jack fruit take center stage here. Yet, despite the intensity of the sweetness and ripeness, the palate is surprisingly finely chiseled and the acidity provides a real sense of tension and composure. Long and elegant on the finish. Drink now.
