Glass-staining purple. Compelling nose shows intense floral, blackberry, cassis and Indian spice qualities, along with a slow-building licorice component. Sappy and deeply concentrated, with intense dark berry flavors and pungent floral character. The floral note builds impressively through the long, spice-dominated finish, which shows outstanding verve and clarity.

Much fresher and more pure and dark-fruited. Dense fruit, still that touch of smoked meat but better balanced in this wine, less dominant. Smooth but compact tannins. Much the best of the three tasted from this producer today.(JH)
