Intriguing nose with that mineral note. Smooth palate entry and then lots of energy and fine tannins. Pretty dry on the end! (JR)

The 2012 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata is one of the riper, racier wines in this range. Sweet floral notes meld into a core of red berries, mint and sweet spices. This is a very typical 2012 Barolo that already drinks well early. Expansive and voluptuous to the core, the Rocche is probably the first of these 2012s that I would choose to open. This is a very typical Barolo from one of La Morra's finest sites.

Just mid ruby with broad, orange-tinged rim. Ripe and exceptionally concentrated for this vintage (a severe – some would say ‘excessive’ – green harvest is the estate’s trademark). Hints of tobacco and cherry. Sweet and ripe yet fluid on the palate, followed by muscular, coating tannins. Bags of fruit yet elegant. (WS)
