Tasting notes
From 4.10 hectares of plots facing south and southeast, Sanzay’s 2021 Les Poyeux reveals aromas of flowers, peony and blueberry with carnal hints. Medium-bodied, velvety and layered, it’s delicately fleshy with a deep, complete core of fruit and bright acids on the finish. It matured in used barrels. Hide bottles for seven to eight years and enjoy over the following decades.

The 2021 Les Poyeux is smooth, savory and suave. It is wild in its aromatic profile, offering woody herbs, olive tapenade and something spicy. A little shy of medium-bodied, with mouthwatering yet balanced acidity, the tannins here are beautifully chalky, and both the texture and flavors linger long. A charming and harmonious example that is a remarkable feat in this cooler vintage, the 2021 underlines the class of this site.
