Tasting notes
Cassis, minty herbs, and spring flowers, as well as textbook black pepper, emerge from Barret's 2022 Crozes-Hermitage Et La Bannière, a juicy, medium-bodied, elegant Crozes-Hermitage that has nicely integrated acidity and fine tannins. All destemmed and vinified with a touch of carbonic maceration, it’s a beautiful, satisfying 2022 that readers will love to drink any time over the coming 5-7 years or so.

80% carbonic maceration and 20% traditional fermentation; fermented with indigenous yeasts; aged 9 months in concrete vats. Certified organic (FR-BIO-01). Tasted blind. Savoury notes on the nose as well as a lovely inky purple-fruit core. So much energy here – pure and engaging throughout. It is really light on its feet yet has crackling purity and vibrancy. Gentle, suave tannins underpin the fruit core and the finish is bright, energetic and long. Really delicious! (AC)
