1983 Rabaud Promis

This wine has turned out slightly better than I initially believed it would. It is fat, round, and full bodied, with gobs of fruit, but it comes across as a bit cloying and heavy-handed, without sufficient botrytis or acidity. It was made at a time when Rabaud-Promis was aging its wine in vats rather than small oak casks, which probably explains the wine's lack of delineation. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 3/90.
