Tasting notes
The 2009 Castello del Terriccio is a soft and luscious wine that demands your full attention. The bouquet is impeccable with thick layers of dark fruit, blackberry, spice, leather and tobacco. It's all about the fine details. Very subtle tones of licorice and tar reveal that this wine has already experienced a good degree of graceful aging. Tight tannins give the wine proper support and substance at the back. Syrah (50%), Petit Verdot (25%) and other red grapes make up the blend.

The 2009 Castello del Terriccio is flashy, succulent and beautifully balanced. Sweet floral notes lead to dark red raspberries, licorice, mint and sweet spices in a medium-bodied, expressive wine that is pure sexiness in the glass. Ideally, the 2009 needs another year or two in bottle to shed some baby fat, after which it will provide immense pleasure for another decade, perhaps longer.
