Score 92/100 · Robert Parker, Dec 1993
A superb wine from this marvelously elegant, fragrant vintage, the 1953 Beychevelle exhibits a medium ruby color with significant amber hues. It displays an intense fragrance of cedar, sweet herbs, and ripe cassis fruit, a round, voluptuous texture, gobs of fruit, and a velvety texture. Although it has been fully mature for several decades, it reveals no signs of decline. A beauty!

About the producer

Beychevelle
With greater care in the vineyard and more precision in the winery, Ch. Beychevelle's star is rising. That's in large part due to the leadership of Philippe Blanc and investment by current owners, Japanese brewers Suntory and French wine group Castel.
