Tasting notes
Full bottle 1,640 g. 83% Chardonnay, 15% Pinot Noir, 2% Pinot Bianco – average vine age around 30 years. Harvest started, after a hot dry summer, on 18 August. Each bunch washed and dried in their specially patented ‘grape spa’. Fermented six months in small oak casks. SO 2 given on the back label as 58 mg/l. Disgorged 2025 after at least eight years on lees. Lemon-creamy nose not unlike Dom Pérignon. Not quite the depth of flavour of Dom on the palate. Still markedly youthful in fact! But it really improved over time in an opened bottle. Definitely worthwhile! (JR)

Savory and perfumed, the 2016 Franciacorta Riserva Annamaria Clementi entices with a collage of dried flowers, sweet smoke, crusty bread and lemon zest. It’s soothingly round with a burst of candied citrus elevated by lively acidity. A crystalline bead of finely etched bubbles cascades across the palate. There’s an attractive fruit sweetness here despite its zero dosage. The balance is spot-on. The 2016 tapers off long and remarkably fresh, leaving a gentle mineral tinge and hints of green apple that linger on the close. Disgorged: Autumn 2024.
