Gaillard's regular 2017 Saint Joseph delivers an attractive blend of black olives and black cherries. It's medium to full-bodied, soft and velvety on the palate, then finishes crisp and clipped. Tasted twice (once blind), with consistent notes.

Tasted blind. Cooked fruit, but nothing overdone thanks to a certain fresh herbal element as well as bracing, integrated acidity. Charming and moreish, with a lovely appetising style and impressive persistence. Has all the St-Joseph hallmarks in place, with lovely purity of fruit and finely woven tannins. (RH)
