Score 85/100 · Drink 1998-2003, Robert Parker, Feb 1998
Moulin Rouge has often been a consistent choice for well-made wines. The 1996 and 1995 are more tannic and less opulent than vintages such as 1989 and 1990, but they are good, austere, well-made Medocs with sweet currant fruit, medium body, light to moderate tannin, and fine structure. The 1996 possesses slightly more sweetness and a deeper mid-palate than the 1995. I would opt for drinking both over the next 3-5 years.
