The 2019 Chablis Côte de Léchet 1er Cru is very sultry and backward on the nose, featuring traces of white flower and citrus peel, and it gains energy and tension in the glass. The palate is well balanced with a saline entry that dovetails into quite a concentrated, "fat" midpalate, where it just loses some of the tension that I was anticipating. But it displays good matière and grip , and this is still a decent Côte de Léchet that should benefit from a couple of years in bottle.

The 2019 Chablis Côte de Léchet 1er Cru comes across rather backward on the nose, eventually revealing smoke and flint aromas, very classic in style and disguising the warmth of the summer. The palate is well balanced with a weighty, concentrated opening. Not quite as honeyed as the 2018 in texture, but certainly with a rounded finish, it delivers a touch of spice on the finish. It would benefit from more length, though it should still drink well for several years.
Cask sample. A little less savoury than the Troesmes but stony/mineral in balance with citrus and stone fruit. Broader in the mouth, fresh but rounded on the finish. Seems softer than the Troesmes – relatively speaking as this is still clearly Chablis – and balanced. Long. (JH)
