Tasting notes
Less expressive on the nose than the Beaurepaire, showing a more penetrating limestone quality and a note of spicy oak, along with a hint of almond paste that reminded me of Loire Valley Chenin Blanc. Conveys a higher-altitude, more minerally character than the Beaurepaire even though this premier cru is situated lower on the hillside. Began quite tight on the palate but aeration brought a silkier texture that's nicely leavened by fresh acidity. This wine builds nicely on the whiplash of a finish, suggesting that it will merit an even higher score with a few years of patience.

Remoissenet’s 2016 Santenay Les Gravières 1er Cru is laced with the essence of bright red cherry, mint and expressive floral notes. Medium in body, gracious and full of life, the 2016 bristles with remarkable energy, poise and class. I loved it. - Antonio Galloni
