Tasting notes
The 2020 Cornas les Arênes—mainly purchased fruit from several different lieux-dits—features almost garrigue-like herbal strands interwoven with red plums and blackberries. It's complex, full-bodied, richly tannic and textured, with a long, flannel-textured finish.

Vinified from fully destemmed grapes, the 2020 Cornas Les Arènes exhales punchy blackberry jam, blackcurrant, licorice, clove and crushed rock elements. Forward and expressive, the 2020 touches the palate with a juicy core of ripe black fruits paired with lifting freshness. Framed by ripe and polished tannins, this is a delicious Cornas loaded with personality and class.
There are three Cornas releases. Coming from more decomposed granite soils, the ruby/plum-hued 2020 Cornas Les Arênes offers up an almost Côte Rôtie-like perfume of red and black fruits, flowers, spice, and hints of leather. I love its complexity, and it's ripe and rounded on the palate, with fine, silky tannins and no hard edges. Drink it over the coming 10-15 years.
