Tasting notes
The 2018 Fixin La Place offers pleasant raspberry and crushed strawberry fruit on the nose, plus a touch of damp earth. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins for a Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits, and nicely balanced. There’s a dash of white pepper sprinkled on the dark fruit that comes through on the finish.

Tank sample. 35% new oak. Mid cherry red. Spicy with ripe fruit but a touch savoury too. The oak adds its own sweetness to the ripe fruit, and there is something slightly nutty too. It is generous and firm. Not especially fresh but lots of pleasure for fruit lovers. Smooth tannins. (JH)
The 2018 Fixin La Place has a pretty dark cherry and black currant bouquet that is delineated and focused, perhaps a little Marsannay in style. The palate is sweet and candied on the entry, offering blueberry and black cherry fruit and a touch of bitterness toward the juicy finish that lends needed tension. Give this a couple of years in bottle.
