(the Ligniers select the harvest dates for their négociant parcels): Moderately saturated medium red. Expressive aromas of redcurrant, tobacco, smoked meat and underbrush; this finished its malolactic fermentation early and is ready for a racking. Smooth and easygoing in the mouth but showing modest acidity and less primary fruit character than the Trilogie. Supple tannins will not get in the way of early consumption. A wine of modest depth; the sandy soil here resulted in significant hydric stress and the crop was down 40% from normal.
