Tasting notes
The 1964 Barolo shows more fruit, depth and richness, with sweet mentholated notes that add complexity to the spiced fruit. Both the 1961 and 1964 are fully mature, and even under the best of circumstance the wines need to be drunk over the next few years at most.

Light strawberry red in color. Conterno's 1964 Barolo presents an incredibly fresh, delicate and perfumed nose that continues seamlessly onto the palate, showing flavors of cherries and spices, and finishing with very sweet, soft tannins. I am at a loss to explain or describe this wine's extraordinary youthfulness and sheer appeal. This wine is inviting and refreshing beyond words. My impression is of drinking a stunning wine at its absolute peak. Truly exceptional and unforgettable. Made from a blend of grapes the estate purchased from the Ginestra zone in Monforte, and Serralunga
About the producer

Giacomo Conterno is arguably Barolo’s most celebrated estate. While most famous for its Monfortino Riserva, the quality found in every bottling of Nebbiolo and Barbera at this address makes them a benchmark producer for both varieties.
