Score 86/100 · Drink 1999-2009, Robert Parker, Feb 1999
The dark ruby-colored 1996 Cote Rotie offers up aromas of black tea, coffee, pepper, spicy oak, and cherry fruit. It is a sexy, spicy, open-knit Cote Rotie with slightly tart acidity, but good freshness and ripeness, as well as a spice-driven, intriguing style. It should drink well for 7-10 years. Sadly, the passionate producer Yves Gangloff owns only 5-acres of vines, located in Cote Rotie and Condrieu. In 1996 he fashioned two very good Cote Roties.
