Score 89-91/100 · Drink 2024-2034, Neal Martin, Jan 2023

The 2021 Nuits Saint-Georges Au Bas de Combe is a tiny production of two barrels. It has a tightly-wound bouquet with dark berry fruit, a lovely marine influence that becomes more marine-like with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a silky entry, modest depth, very harmonious with a slight plushness on the finish. Not amazingly complex, but it will be irresistible once in bottle.

There are only two barrels of the 2021 Nuits-Saint-Georges Au Bas de Combe, a medium-bodied, lively wine evocative of raspberries, orange rind, plums and sweet forest floor. With powdery structuring tannins and good depth at the core, readers able to secure a few bottles will want to exercise a little patience.
