Tasting notes
Tasted blind at the annual "Burgfest" tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Aux Perdrix from Domaine des Perdrix has a brightness and vivacity on the nose that is delightful and in this blind peer group tasting it is the most enjoyable, demonstrating the most pinoté. That said, it seemed to clam up with aeration. It's a playful thing on the palate with tart black cherry fruit, pomegranate and sage, although I noticed that the tannins feel a little hardness on the finish, though that will soften with time. This is showing very well - a delicious Aux Perdrix.

Like the Vosne-Romanée, dark and spiced by oak. Deep and firm but velvety too. Comforting, long, embryonic. (JH)
