Tasting notes
Entirely crafted from Sémillon planted on the clay-limestone plateau of Barsac, the 2023 Château Caillou reveals a complex and attractive bouquet of white fruits, mango and ripe orchard fruits, accented by exotic nuances. Medium- to full-bodied, enveloping and seamless, it is beautifully balanced, offering good depth at the core framed by lively acidity and enhanced by a delicate, gastronomic bitterness. Fermented and matured in barrels for 20 months, it contains 143 grams per liter of residual sugar.

The 2023 Caillou has a clean and quite pure honey- and saffron-scented bouquet that opens nicely in the glass. The palate is well balanced with viscous, honeyed fruit. Not particularly complex, it's lightly spiced toward the finish. It is like a tamed La Tour Blanche!
The 2023 Caillou Blanc de Talbot shows a fresh, delicate bouquet of lemon, lemon oil, grapefruit, spices and spring flowers. Medium-bodied, lean and fruity, it’s long with an elegant core of fruit and a mouthwatering, slightly phenolic finish. This is a blend of 71% Sauvignon Blanc and 29% Sémillon.
A very concentrated white that’s reductively flinty and powerful, showing aromas of citrus fruit, pralines and pastry with touches of white sesame seeds, toast, smoke, lemons and custard. Full-bodied and concentrated on the palate, with intense flavors and a long, compressed finish. Hints of wood spices and phenolic bitterness at the end. Give it one more year to integrate. Drink from 2026.
