(Sweet Spot)<br /> (from a .675 ha parcel; this is a monopole). The high-toned and admirably pure nose consists of ultra-fresh red cherry, floral and softly spiced aromas. The racy, intense and beautifully well-detailed medium weight flavors possess a refined, even sophisticated, mouthfeel while delivering outstanding length on the stony, moderately austere and balanced finale. This always ages well and the 2023 version should as well.

Aromas of sweet red berries, cherries, rose petal and peony introduce the 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos du Fonteny, a medium-bodied, satiny and vibrant wine that's fine-boned, succulent and saline. After the more structured 2022, the 2023 wears its heart on its sleeve.
The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos du Fonteny 1er Cru has around 50% whole bunch in the blend. Here, the stems are just a little more apparent, leaning more toward the vegetal side (in a good manner). The palate is medium-bodied and very linear, a little slender for a Premier Cru… Hopefully it will flesh out during the remainder of its time in barrel.
