Tasting notes
Unusually deep colour, perhaps because of 2021’s heatwaves. Rewarding varietal nose and much denser than most of these AB Vintners Pinots. Really intense and vital, with sort of Nuits-like concentration. This would probably surprise a lot of people. Lots still to unfurl. (JR)

Pale, verging on medium, purple in colour. Juicy, ripe red raspberry and sweet blueberry with a dark soil and violet undertone. Firm tannin and mouth-watering acidity drive the long finish. Lingering hint of walnut skin. (SCJ)
A jeweled ruby hue, the 2021 Pinot Noir Ribbon Ridge reveals an elegant, red-berried perfume of roses, candied cinnamon, and fresh pine needles, and as it opens, some hints of blue fruits and flowers come through. Medium-bodied and lively with peppery spice on the palate, it has notes of crunchy red berries, great structure with ripe tannins, and a clean finish with lingering notes of beet root. Drink 2024-2034. After partnering with Maison & Domaines Henriot at Beaux Freres, Michael Etzel established Sequitur as a solo project where he has full control. The property is a 12-acre vineyard site adjacent to the winery and is biodynamically farmed. The following wines were tasted with Michael and his team at their new tasting room in Ribbon Ridge in July 2023.
I tasted the 2021 Sequitur Pinot Noir about three weeks before it was bottled. Medium ruby-purple in color, it has intense aromas of pomegranate, rhubarb and even boysenberry, plus accents of garrigue, conifer and orange peel. The medium-bodied palate is chalky and refreshing with addicting bursts of juicy acidity, generous, nuanced fruit and a very long, layered finish.
